Meet Theresa

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Theresa Tavernier, Founder & Lead Consultant at First HR Partner, and a passionate advocate for building strong, people-first organizations.

With over 25 years of Human Resources leadership experience across diverse industries, I’ve had the privilege of supporting companies through growth, change, and everything in between. From scaling startups to optimizing enterprise-level HR systems, my mission has always been the same: to create workplaces where people and business thrive together.

I launched First HR Partner in 2022 to bring strategic, flexible HR expertise to organizations that want to do more than check boxes. Whether you're navigating compliance, crafting a talent strategy, or managing complex people challenges, we're here to help you lead with clarity and confidence. We partner with your organization to build effective HR processes and structure that aligns with your culture, mission and values.

At First HR Partner, we take a comprehensive, personalized, and customized approach to every engagement. We believe there’s no such thing as “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to people—and the same goes for your operations. Outside of client work, I’m passionate about giving back to the HR community through mentoring, coaching and volunteer work, and I thoroughly enjoy supporting differently-abled communities. At home, I’m the proud mom of five amazing kids and share life’s daily adventures with my wonderful husband.

More about Theresa...

Theresa earned her Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and her MBA from Temple University. She holds the SHRM-SCP designation, is experienced as a business coach, and is certified to lead workplace investigations. Theresa currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of SHRM (SEPA SHRM).
